my version of chalkboard rocks

Have you seen Pottery Barn's Halloween collection??
{Thank you to Dawn at Not Just A Mommy for bringing it to my attention}
It's all just gorgeous!!!
One picture stood out.  Chalkboard Rocks!
I mean, it's just brilliant.  Rocks you can write on - LOVE!

Pottery Barn

Just so happened that I was at Dollar Tree the other day &
saw some 'jumbo accent rocks' - light bulb!
I could write on those.
After a run to Joanns - I had everything I needed.

my paint pen & rocks

see where I'm going with this???

This took me ~5 minutes to do.  So so simple!  So so cute!

*I know these aren't actually chalk rocks and you can't erase the words and are much smaller than Pottery Barn's rocks.
But I also know that these were WAY cheaper than my inspiration :)

Now the fun part is deciding where to display these!

  3. Very cute. I wonder if you could use chalkboard markers (like Starbucks uses) if the look of chalk is what is wanted? Or could they be painted with a chalkboard paint?
I have to get over to the store! Thanks for the idea!

  10. Great knock-off, Staci. I saw those on the PB website a month or so ago and wondered who would actually pay for spray painted rocks when they'd be so easy to make. Great job! Thanks for joining in today. :)

  11. Turned out great. I just made me some knock off ones too. But I stole rocks from our yard & I did spray paint them with chalk board paint. I just haven't posted about them yet. But I love yours just as much. Even if they can't be erased.
