Lizard & Ladybug's Halloween mantle

I gave you a peek over the weekend of our 'Halloween' mantle.
Here are some shots (our fireplace/mantle is in a room with very little natural light)

The frame is from Wal-Mart ($3), the pine cones from my mom's back yard,
pumpkins are from Wal-Mart (6/$5)
(I painted a few with chalkboard paint & some white).
The spider votive pumpkin holder came from Goodwill.
The candle/candy dish is from $ Tree.

Here's the other direction..  a good shot of the candy corn garland.
Hot glue, candy corn and twine - super simple.
The 'boo' sign is just chipboard letters on scrapbook paper in a $ Tree frame.
*it's now hanging in our kitchen.

and from the other direction.
It's almost impossible to get a decent picture of the whole thing.

Close up of my 'chalkboard' rocks and a few more Wal-Mart pumpkins

Keeping it real..some of the candy corn 'jumped' and I needed a quick fix -
a clear pin and cheapo spider work every time :)

I would love to have the whole house decorated.
But with 2 little ones (with very grabby hands),
I need decorations that are simple and quick -
cheap & too high to reach don't hurt :)

If you see something you like, let me know.
If you see areas where I could improve, let me know that too!!

  4. Very festive - I love it! The candy corn colored decor is really calling to me this year. But how many times have you used the 'clear pin and a spider' trick to fix something?????? Wonder how many little spiders are haunting your house!

  6. Your Halloween mantel looks great! I really like how you made topiaries out of the pumpkins. Your candy corn garland is also super cute. I wonder if you store it in the freezer if it will still be good next year?

  7. Your mantle scape is great! Also, I l-o-v-e your Halloween candy skewers I just saw on Thoughts of a Supermom. So clever, and I bet the kids go nuts over them!

  8. Thanks for commenting on my blog...I had to come over and see your candy corn decor!
Nice job; it's really cute. And so smart to hot glue the garland. I figured it would involve threading all those candy corns on with a needle, and I wasn't about to bother with that!
