School snack idea & freebie lunch box note

Here's a simple snack idea I put together yesterday.
It's perfect to put in a lunchbox (I've included some simple lunchbox notes)
or it's great for an after-school treat.

I already had all of the ingredients.
fruit roll up (Target brand), mini Nilla wafers and a Hershey kiss

Doesn't is sorta look like a pencil??

Super simple 100th Day of School treat

If your kids are celebrating their 100th day of school soon & you want to send a cute treat...this one is so so simple.

Everything Bagel pretzels (from Rold Gold) and pretzel sticks.
Add them together and ... see the 100??

Cute, right?!

You can either put them in snack bags for each of the kids
OR put them in a big bowl and let the kids make their own '100' for fun :)

The lizard will be taking these to school this week for his celebration!

we all survived the first day of K

You may know the lizard started Kindergarten yesterday.
You may also know that I HAD to have a little party for him Sunday :)

It was just family.
I kept the food light
(fruit, chips and sweets)
and the decor super easy
(contractor paper table cloth & freebie printables - here and here)

Here are the highlights!

Back to School party flashback

Here is a peek at my Back to School party from last year.
This year it was impossible to plan one in the middle of moving
- although, I really REALLY wanted to :)

This is the 'snacks' post from last year.

I wanted to keep things simple.
Oddly enough, most of the snacks were healthy - so BONUS!
Dawn at Not Just A Mommy posted a super cute party she hosted for her son..complete with apple cars.  I knew I had to make them!  To go with them, I made 'ants on a log'.  I also tackled the pretzel crayons (here's the link to the labels).
I have to say - everyone ate all of it.
Either they were starving or the snacks were actually good :)

The kids used 'lunch trays' (10/$1 at Dollar Tree)

Teacher Appreciation ideas

There so many cute ideas for Teacher Appreciation Week.
Some of the cutest I've seen are all found in the same place!

The girls at eighteen25 have done most of the work for you.
With great ideas along with great freebies - all you need is the teacher  :)

This subway art print is my new fave!
(I also think this would be perfect to hang in lizard & ladybug's bedrooms)

on a side note..the lizard's preschool is moving into a new building.
The process was 'supposed' to take 3 weeks...we're going on 2 months!
He's basically having his summer now :)

Point is, if he were in school..his teacher's would SO be getting this print!

2 reasons...

I haven't been crafting much lately.

Having family in town
+ vacation from school
+ nice weather
= lots of running around :)

The lizard just went back to pre-school this past Monday.
We are getting back into the swing of things,
which means I'll be back to whipping up some simple/easy goodies.

In case you missed it yesterday, check out the Sweet 6 ladies that are helping out with my BIRTHDAY EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

Florida State, Florida State, Florida State - WOOOOOO!
College football is fast approaching....
as a FSU fan, I needed to get my craft on - 'Nole' style.
I spray painted 3 1/2" blocks, used garnet & gold scrapbook paper
and black vinyl letters.
Mod Podged the paper on the blocks...and once it was dry, I sanded the edges to make them look worn.  Finally, I added the vinyl letters.

I love the old school look of these.

Time to get working on the husband's team.... O-H I-O (go Buckeyes)!

*here's the deal - the blocks were left over from these blocks.
The scrapbook paper was on sale 5 for $1 at JoAnns & the vinyl letters were buy 1 get 1 1/2 off, also at JoAnns.  Spray paint and Mod Podge, I already had.
Grand total for these old school blocks = ~ $5

Weekend Bloggy Reading

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

and so it begins...

I'm one of 'those' moms - there, I said it!
As the first day of pre-school approached, I was nervous for the lizard.
I wanted him to enjoy school.  I wanted him to make lots of friends.
I wanted him to thrive.
I also wanted the teachers to like him...
which meant, mama was getting a 'first day of school' gift for the teachers.
I had to come up with something functional, clever, cute & not too expensive.
I headed out to pick up some sneakers (w/velcro) :)
and made a stop at Bath&Body Works.
My plan was to get anti-bacterial gel for the teachers - apple scented, of course.
Well, I'm not the only mommy looking to bribe some teachers.  They had a ton of apple shaped antibacterial soap and hand gel dispensers.  So cute.
Needless to say, this is what the lizard put on the teacher's desk - day 1!!

Here's the lizard (and ladybug) ready for his first day of preschool.
I'm happy to report - he likes it (so far)

if you look really close - you can see the turquoise ribbon (hanging on the lunchbox)..
I switched out the star ribbon on his lunch box bling for a more masculine
turquoise and lime polka dot ribbon :)

My Saturday night project (a super simple one)

After visiting Someday Crafts Back 2 School Bash this week...I had so many fun things I wanted to do.  My fave idea of the week was stamped washer keychains.
I already had the stamp set and washers.
I bought them to make gifts for Mother's Day.
After ruining several washers making the Mother's Day necklaces...I realized I only needed to whack the stamp one time to make an imprint.
So I decided to give the keychains a try.
My version was much more simple..just a label for the lizard's lunchbox.

My supplies
sorry for the blur

  The results

Even a SuperHero needs a little bling.

And a BIG FAT THANK YOU to Michelle at Someday Crafts who was generous enough to share my Back to School Bash at her Back 2 School Bash!
