I want to feature YOU!

I wanted to throw something out there and see what you all think.
I'm considering starting an 'official' party/craft/project feature.
Basically, if it's a party you've done (or even a great project, craft etc...),
 I'd love to feature it.

Button150px

You may or may not know that I love me some DIY.
Nothing would make me happier than to share your DIY craftiness with everyone :)

Here's how it would work:
Send me pictures (and link to your blog)
Tell me a little about your party/craft/project - a tutorial would be great too.

It's that simple.
I will do my best to share everyone's submissions.
send them to:
jbandsam@gmail.com

If this sounds like a great idea, say 'YAY'!!!
And then leave me a comment saying you like this idea,
since I can't hear you actually saying 'YAY' :)

In the meantime, enter my giveaway..it's a great one!

Fab Find #2...pen n paperflowers
Ok..so this isn't a new find for me.  I know Jessica.
We got together at the Florida blogger meeting last month.
Even though it had been YEARS since we've seen each other,
she's just as sweet!
The FAB part is 2 things really.
#1...Jessica brought each of us one her brand new Pastry Pedestals.
She created this adorable pedestal for your pastry.
Genius, right?!!?
Here they are in action!

I've already worked them into the kid's pirate birthday party
(and they aren't even being sold yet!)

#2...Jessica is the newest contributor on Hostess with the Mostess!!!
Check out her first post - it's a BALL :)

goodwill finds this week

Our AC died Wednesday.  It will be fixed today (Friday).  It's HOT!  Florida HOT!  Enough of my complaining - I'm too hot to complain anymore.
Jillian from Catch My Party made me forget ALL about the heat - my Rosh Hashanah dinner is one of the parties of the day!!  I could not be more excited!

Catch My Party

The ladybug and I have gotten in the habit of checking out our local Goodwill Store.  These are the goodies I found the previous trip.
I wasn't really looking for anything specific.  Maybe something to use for the Halloween Carnival I'm planning...or some fun things to revamp.
I think I got some great things this week.

Dollar Tree candle sticks (.39 each) and 5 glass plates (.99 for all) ) = cute cake stands

Cute little apple dish (the ladybug grabbed this one)  .69 = too cute to pass.

Toss across game (like tic-tac-toe using bean bags).  $1.99.
Remove the sticker to add Halloween themed ones =
a fun game to use at my Halloween Carnival.

Little spider tea light holders ($ 3.99 for 6) = cute decorations for Halloween

Total for the trip ~ $9
Not too shabby!

I am beyond honored.
If you haven't checked out Maddycakes Muse, where the heck have you been?? Thank you Michelle..you made my day!

Florida State, Florida State, Florida State - WOOOOOO!
College football is fast approaching....
as a FSU fan, I needed to get my craft on - 'Nole' style.
I spray painted 3 1/2" blocks, used garnet & gold scrapbook paper
and black vinyl letters.
Mod Podged the paper on the blocks...and once it was dry, I sanded the edges to make them look worn.  Finally, I added the vinyl letters.

I love the old school look of these.

Time to get working on the husband's team.... O-H I-O (go Buckeyes)!

*here's the deal - the blocks were left over from these blocks.
The scrapbook paper was on sale 5 for $1 at JoAnns & the vinyl letters were buy 1 get 1 1/2 off, also at JoAnns.  Spray paint and Mod Podge, I already had.
Grand total for these old school blocks = ~ $5

My Saturday night project (a super simple one)

After visiting Someday Crafts Back 2 School Bash this week...I had so many fun things I wanted to do.  My fave idea of the week was stamped washer keychains.
I already had the stamp set and washers.
I bought them to make gifts for Mother's Day.
After ruining several washers making the Mother's Day necklaces...I realized I only needed to whack the stamp one time to make an imprint.
So I decided to give the keychains a try.
My version was much more simple..just a label for the lizard's lunchbox.

My supplies
sorry for the blur

  The results

Even a SuperHero needs a little bling.

And a BIG FAT THANK YOU to Michelle at Someday Crafts who was generous enough to share my Back to School Bash at her Back 2 School Bash!

A big FAT giveaway!

Party Starters is officially ending a week-long birthday bash with a super giveaway.  Pam has announced she is now offering DIY cake slice Kits (such a great idea).

According to Pam - "I know there are people out there who are crafty, but short on time, who want easy affordable Do It Yourself party favors.  Every box in the kit comes un-assembled, but includes adhesive. Just fold on the scored lines, peal of the plastic tape liner and assemble! Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!!"

Come on...anything that's Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy has gotta be great!

What makes these kits even better is Pam teamed up with Brandi from Tweedle Dee Designs.  Brandi created this super cute Vintage Summer Picnic Collection

Head over to Party Starters and check out all the details (and how to enter)!

how I spent my 4th of July morning (early morning)

first up...check out Catch My Party (the blog)
my Old Fashion 4th of July is included with some really great parties!!

_______________________________________________________________________

I decided last minute (last Tuesday) to run a 5k on the 4th!
I knew it was going to be early -
it's Florida. In the Summer. So it's HOT all day!
But I had no idea there would be close to
3000 other crazies out there running along side me!
I'm happy I did it (not particularly happy with my time) & I think I'll make it a tradition.
Plus, I got a plastic cup major prize for finishing.

that's me (under the pink arrow - duh).  I look so focused :)

not so focused now - just sweaty!

DONE...now where's my water (and banana)?

my 'trophy' proudly displayed at our 4th cook-out!

********************************************************
on a totally different subject, I figured out how to add a button that you can grab!
I'm quite proud of myself (but I won't tell you how long it took me to figure it out)
& I'd be honored if you'd grab it up :)
